Week 10

Can't say Good bye

It is unbelievable to be in the last week of the wonderful course. It is hard to say no more discussions, posts, and blog. No more of reading and enhancing our information on teaching but one important thing is this course gives me the key points and takes my hand to the correct first step in being creative and successful teacher.  

I love the course even it was difficult for me to manage it due to the situation we are living in Yemen these days . I will miss the day waiting for the electricity to come to do my tasks, what lovely days.

What is more worthy to be mentioned is I know friends from different countries and sharing ideas and experience . I wish to be in touch forever.   

And you dear Donna thank you very much for all you have offered of us and your kind cooperation . You are my example in teaching . Thanks

Week 9

Learning Styles  

As usual this week came with fruitful information in addressing different students learning styles. Knowing your students before teaching them to choose the suitable technology and technique to use in teaching the class.

We submitted the final project plan on the Wikki page.

Waiting for the next week and wishing not to come. The ten weeks run so fast. I will miss the class and the discussion, searching, reading, posting our thoughts in the blog . How nice and wonderful is the class!

Week 8

Another Amazing Week ….

It is almost the end of the course, we still have two weeks and all of us busy in doing the final project.

This week is practical because we have to make online exercises what is more creative and adding joys to the class.

ANVILL is the great tool to enrich students' ability who are shy and not confident to depend on their abilities and skills. ANVILL is variety tool focusing on Voiceboards, Quizzes and Survey, Livechats, and forum.  Audio and video for visual and  also textbooks for written skills.

We still have two weeks , we are waiting what will be new to be added as a treasure we have to keep.

Week 7

Learning Autonomy and one-computer class !

This week's discussion makes me thinks deeply about the role and the benefit of learning autonomy. I think this technique is used as self-reports, self-evaluation, re-organizing and re-structuring learners thoughts.

In my classes, I practice freedom for open and friendly communications between me and the students to make the class more interesting and adding values to the topic we are discussing , students also working in the class as well as the teacher.     

For one –computer classroom and some strategies it is really nice technique that is used to facilitate the lesson or the topic in the class. The teacher role here is like a guidance to give instructions and managing the time. Given a help when needed.

I also continue working on my project plan  because I'm not teaching this semester and I choose my partner to work with next week.

Week 6

Technique and Technology

      It is the most difficult week because of the situation we are living in my country. I couldn't  check the tasks till Tuesday afternoon because two days before we had no electricity now we just have it one hour a day , you can't imagine how I run the previous weeks. And this week what made it worse is the dangerous situation of fight. Even though I'm interested and happy that I can follow the lesson requirements.

       Reading about the techniques and technology in teaching small and large classes is giving me an opportunity to think widely in how to link between them and how the teacher can change his / her style depends on the class level and size. The successful of the class is the successful of the teacher. The teacher's effort is in preparation for the lesson and in teaching skills to be accommodate with the class.

      The second task is about PowerPoint and how it effects positively in making the class more interesting. It is simple but needs from the teacher how to present it in a way that making it benefit and meaningful too.

        I start also to write in a project plan because I  don't have a class to teach . But it gives me time to think about the next class and how it will be.

Week 5

Interesting and Amazing …..

       I startes this week by creating a rubric " Diplomacy Debate for intermediate levels " .Rubric is a magic tool in assessment that helps learners to be motivated and independent in learning. It is the way to evaluate progress , efforts and the level of the language learners are used. For the information of alternative assessment, project based-learning, and other tools all are concentrating on learning by doing how to encourage learners to work alone and in groups just to use a real language and being able to communicate well using a correct language what is clear and understood. The teacher's role here is motivating and giving the guidance to the correct line in learning the language. Learners should be aware of doing mistakes that is good as well as correcting those mistakes is also important.

      What also worth mentioned, in week four we have discussed one of the problem and I mentioned " shyness and lack of confident for learners " and in this week we are asked to give a solution to that problem using a tool of technology that will help in solving such problem. I like this way , it leads me to think deeply and to be more creative. Really , I become more aware of technology and its importance  in  modern education. I have to speak the time language " TECHNOLOGY " .

      For the group I will teach , they are not interested in technology because they are old and have no time to search but I will try my best to let technology becomes their close friend in learning the language .

Week 4

Step by Step,

Here we go to another week of technology surprise , how to facilitate the teacher's role in the class with excellent  rewards. We started with the discussion thread of  fruitful websites and articles what give us the basic of new techniques in teaching skills. In the discussion, we wrote ABCD objective of the website we prefer to use in one of the classes. This really helps in how to use everything and get benefit from.  Yes, it is a website but how learners will use it positively?

Then, we focus on one problem that facing teachers during the classes. It gives me time to stop and think what really learners need and what are the handicaps that facing them. I list many of them but the most important one is their shyness and lack of confident because they don’t want to do mistakes. 

Lastly , the lesson plan what I like . It is a simple way to organize teacher's thoughts and how to set the objectives for the class.

I feel I'm really lucky to participate in this class.

How Wonderful It Is !

         Week three and having all these wonderful information what about if we finish the course. I will start telling my experience in using delicious. It is what I was looking for, how to save my links to use when I need. During  the search I found many useful links, I lost them and again I waste time in searching for the website that I found before, but not anymore with delicious. Now I can list the useful website I need for each class I teach according to the level and subject of the class.

         My second experience is when I read the projects of earlier teachers in this course. It is really helpful to know others experience. It gives me a full picture about the project I  will do. I was wondering how I start writing while  I'm not teaching a class right now. The answer comes quickly from great Donna  to do the project depending on  the plan files in the website.

      My third experience is when I read the articles and websites . They are refreshing my skills in teaching. I enhance teaching knowledge . I think a good teacher just need a key to go on in creativity. And this course really as a key to all teachers. No one can deny how CALL is useful in learning and how to change the routine of normal teaching. By this technique learners won't forget what they have learn because it depends on learning by doing. 

     Lastly, I learn to search and search and never give up . I can share ideas and opinions with others . I have to use simple things to make them great ones.

Week 2

Simple Idea Making a Great Change

      Honestly , most of the information I have learnt this week is new for me. I will start talking about how useful the noodletool to me as a teacher and how it will benefit my students. Usually the students are asking me to give them websites in English but I couldn't add to them new ones more than what I find in google. I like noodletools because it is classify website search according to the kind of information I want to look for in all fields.

     Then, It is the first time I read about , ABCD objective  method. I do organize my class, having objectives, knowing who are my students and what the benefit after they finish the class but this method helps me to understand how to be precise and more organize, especially in preparing the suitable activities for the class. It is a simple method what needs little practice and surely will help me a lot in developing and achieving  the my goals. I faced difficulties during the class especially when I teach grammar. The students understand the grammar rule but they couldn't practice it in real situation . I realize that I have to know students' needs  and backgrounds to give them the right and suitable tasks depending on their levels and majors.

     Those two new  information " web searching and ABCD"  in this week are the first step in being a creative teacher who can make a remarkable change in the way of teaching English.

Week 1 Wow great work

Hi all 

It is our first day in the course , the feeling is mixed of eagerness to learn more and more and sad that it is my first  time to use the blog and Nicenet . It takes time to know how they work but quickly I learnt how to use them. As I mentioned in the introduction page about the quote I like is " Never too old to learn " so I have to learn all about technology and how can it benefits me in my career and in teaching students. According to the new generations these days , they prefer learning by technology and what I also realize it facilitates the teacher's duty in the class. 

Also, it is my first time joining online course I thought it is difficult but now I don't think so because of Donna's cooperation by giving us directions very clear, step by step .
Using the blog will benefit me in developing my skills in English  language and teaching techniques besides developing my personal character how to share information with others and accept their comments. On the other side, I can use this technique with my students how to practice what they have learnt in English language class with their classmates by writing skill what is difficult for them especially for the first levels. Another thing, this blog will help students to overcome their shyness in using the language better than face to face discussion.
   

Active active active till the en of the course ...
I'm sure I will improve my language skills first, my techniques in teaching . The next class in teaching will be different and more exciting. What I will gain also and what is precious for me is knowing you , teachers from different countries and being friends forever.
